Welcome to the Internet home of the Society for the Study of Psychology and Popular Culture (or, as we fondly call it, the "double S, double P, C"). The Society for the Study of Psychology and Popular Culture (SSPPC) is an academic association devoted to furthering research and education concerning the nexus between popular culture and mental health and illness. Founded in 2006, the Society strives for a diverse, multidisciplinary membership and encourages the participation of professionals, academics, and graduate students alike. The Society, through its group and individual efforts, focuses attention on the effects of popular culture on identity, psychological care, education, and research.

The Society meets several times a year and is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. As it evolves the Society hopes to publish a newsletter in order to keep its members informed of group and individual professional activities and initiatives; additionally, the Society plans on eventually sponsoring professional events related to its mandate.

Further information about joining the Society can be obtained by e-mailing info@ssppc.net.
